MVSA Architects and ToBeDeveloped register first Dutch WELL Community pilot for the project Crossroads Sloterdijk.
On Tuesday 5 June 2018, the WELL Community Standard pilot Crossroads Sloterdijk in Amsterdam will be explained at the stand of het Blue Building Institute at PROVADA.
The WELL Community Standard is a scoring system that focuses exclusively on Health and Wellness, establishing a new global benchmark for healthy communities. With the launch of the WELL Community Standard, the International Well Building Institute (IWBI) is starting a new era by improving neighborhoods, living environments, municipalities and other communities through principles based on health and well-being. A standard developed to address the entire residential environment based on the following principles: air, water, nutrition, light, fitness, temperature, sound 136bad5cf58d_materials, mind and community.
The Crossroads project is a unique first step towards bringing the living environment to a new, higher level of social well-being. In this 40,000 m2 project, apartments, student housing, commercial spaces and offices are being developed. More than 500 people will live and work in this project.
Pioneers involved in this project say the following:
Roberto Meyer of MVSA Architects from his profession explains: Team Crossroads consists of a partnership of developer TBD, MVSA Architects, Kondor Wessels Amsterdam, Delva Landscape Architects, De Dakdokters, VIAC and Climate Garant. Together they have bundled their knowledge of the market demand and this has resulted in an innovative, high-quality and sustainable design.
Good architecture must be innovative, stimulating, future-proof and sustainable. Crossroads realizes an unprecedented urban quality of life with a beautiful architectural appearance. Due to its modular construction, the tower has a optimum flexibility and differentiation. In addition, there will be public facilities aimed at the neighborhood and residents. Spearheads are spatial quality and guaranteeing social safety.
ToBeDeveloped, Hans Woerlee, Team Crossroads was immediately captivated by the special location of the site. At a unique crossroads of transport flows, in the middle of the action, but also close to tranquility and greenery. The team believes in the growth and change of cities and sees Sloterdijk as an exciting, appealing living environment. From the towers, future residents will have an impressive view of the city with the harbour, the green Brettenzone and the Westerpark at their feet.
The process to arrive at this first WELL Community Standard registration was supervised by Alexandra Jurgens-Boot, CFO of BBI; “Strategic advice is essential to bring about a change in the real estate market towards a concept in which the well-being of the (end) user comes first. It is inspiring to see that the parties involved in the Crossroads project share this vision and in this way act as pioneers for a sustainable, healthy living environment.”
